Your path to self-discovery and growth

Welcome to a transformative rope journey at Studio ES. I offer rope bodywork based on shibari techniques as a unique avenue for personal growth and self-discovery. Rooted in Japanese tradition and inspired by the teachings of grand master Haraki Yukimura, my approach emphasizes emotional connection, body awareness, and the exploration of your physical and mental boundaries—all within a safe, supportive environment.

Shibari is more than an art form; it’s a powerful tool for personal transformation. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, emotional release, or a deeper connection with your body, I create a space where you can explore freely and safely. My focus is on your growth and well-being, guiding you towards new insights and experiences.

Your Journey, My Service

I view following the teachings of the grand master each shibari session as an act of service, carefully tailored to your individual journey. My role is to guide and support you, creating a safe space where you can explore whatever arises—be it emotions, sensations, or revelations.

Whether you’re drawn to shibari out of curiosity, for stess relief, or to awaken your life force energy (called Chi in the Japanese tradition), I’m here to meet you where you are and guide you towards where you want to be.

In the sessions, you might find yourself:

  • Surrendering control and finding peace
  • Discovering your true boundaries
  • Escaping the chatter of your mind to be fully present
  • Challenging beliefs about what your body can do
  • Awakening your inner energy and vitality

My approach is holistic, incorporating elements of bodywork when beneficial. I create an environment to which you’re free to bring any intention or desire, while also remaining open to look deeped into yourself.

In shibari, as in life, the journey is as important as the destination. Are you ready to embark on this transformative path?

Others asked about shibari

Is shibari safe?

Yes, when practiced with a trained professional with anatomical training. I prioritize safety, using proper techniques and equipment. We’ll discuss any health concerns beforehand, and I’ll adapt the session to ensure your well-being. I will also run you trough the safety procedure before every session.

Consent and boundaries are paramount. We’ll discuss your limits before the session, and I encourage open communication throughout. You can pause or stop the session at any time.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Avoid slippery or sensitive fabrics. You’re welcome to adjust your level of clothing during the session to increase or decrease your skin sensitivity as you feel comfortable.

Isn't shibari a sexual practice?

While shibari can be incorporated into intimate experiences, it is a misconception that it would be solely or primarily sexual. Shibari has diverse applications, from artistic expression to personal growth and stress relief. In my practice, I focus on its potential for self-discovery, body awareness, and emotional exploration.

That said, sexual intentions and desires are also welcome to be expressed in the session. Shibari can be a powerful portal to bring hidden desires to light, helping you grow in self-awareness and work through associated emotions such as shame. The session provides then a safe space to explore and understand these aspects of yourself.

The intention and focus of each session are determined by you, and can range from entirely non-sexual to exploring your sexuality. Regardless of the context, shibari offers a unique way to connect with your body, challenge your limits, and explore your inner landscape. My role is to provide a judgment-free environment where you can safely explore and grow, whatever direction that takes.

I have health conditions. Can I still participate?

Most health conditions are compatible with shibari, but it’s crucial to discuss any concerns beforehand in order for me to ensure the safety of your session. If you have any of the following, it is paramount to mention this before starting the session:

  • Recent physical injuries or surgeries
  • Cardiovascular issues (including high blood pressure)
  • History of nerve damage
  • Hyperflexibility
  • Psychiatric diagnoses with on-going medical treatment
  • History of panic attacks, losing consciousness or dissociation

These factors may limit certain techniques or require modifications to ensure your well-being. In some cases, I might recommend alternative practices or request clearance from your healthcare provider. Your safety is my top priority, and open communication helps ensure a positive, beneficial experience for your unique needs.

If you have any questions not covered here, please don’t hesitate to ask.

What They Say

Shibari is highly recommended if you are looking for ways to let go of everything, to come to yourself.

“I had never heard of Shibari before. The way Sam explains everything, with care and respect, makes you trust him very quickly. I know few people who are as caring as him. He is very professional and considers it important that you feel good about everything.

Each knot is so careful, with attention to detail that I feel very safe and can surrender completely. This is directly why Shibari is so enriching for me. Being able/needing to let go of control during a session is something that gives me a lot of peace and allows me to relax completely.

-Britt, Schoten

Sam has my full trust. He takes into account my insecurities and feels me incredibly well.

“When I contacted Sam for my first session of Shibari, I had already done some research as per good practice. I was looking for a way to relax mind and body and had always been curious about different forms of non-erotic bondage.

At the start of my first session, I was nervous. I was warmly and heartfelt welcomed by Sam, who communicated very clearly the purpose of this session. He also asked me questions to be was sure I understood everything, and also calmly explained the safety procedures to me. The session itself exceeded all my expectations. The tension on my skin combined with meditating gave me wonderful sense of calm.

Will I go back again? Absolutely. My next session is already booked. Sam has my full trust. He takes into account my insecurities and feels me incredibly well. Shibari represents an enormous added value in the search for my just ‘being’.

My experience with Sam was deep and magical.

“My experience with Sam was deep and magical. He was very professional and created a beautiful safe space to experience the practice. I felt held and secure. In less than 30 min I fully trusted him and let go. After the session, I felt very calm, relaxed and in a “high” meditative state. I can highly recommend it.”

-Martina

The focus on my body and feeling the ropes carrying me is soo relaxing.

“The focus on my body and feeling the ropes carrying me is soo relaxing. The untying was also extraordinary and released something in my body that I find difficult to describe. A kind of liberation. I felt at the end much more gentleness towards myself, inner peace and was very relaxed. Highly recommended.”

-Inge, Lokeren

I could feel the energy shifting with the rope touching my skin. It was a beautiful experience.

“Sam was able to create an experience where I felt safe throughout the entire session, even though it was the first time I tried Shibari.

I felt I needed to be held and go inwards to begin with, as I was mentally processing some personal things. Sam intuitively felt that and responded with doing the first tie very gently and comforting. I cried and opened up.

After that I felt I could expand and relax more into the experience and allowed Sam to follow his intuition to guide the second tie. He did a tie that activated and turned on my whole body. I was shaking and could feel the energy shifting with the rope touching my skin. It was a beautiful experience.

Sam is very skilled with both energy, holding space, communicating and with Shibari Art.”
